The Three Core Technologies Driving Shindengen’s Mobility Strategy
Shindengen’s strengths lie in its elemental semiconductor technologies used in developing power devices, circuit technologies for creating efficient power system products, and mounting technologies, which enable both high quality and high performance in limited space (in terms of both volume and area). By combining these three technologies, we create optimal products that are smaller and lighter.
Core Technologies | ||
---|---|---|
Elemental semiconductor technologies | Circuit technologies | Mounting technologies |
Technologies for developing power semiconductors used in high-voltage, high-current controls | Technologies for designing circuits that maximize energy conversion efficiency and mitigate loss through high density | Technologies for creating products that achieve high heat dissipation while leveraging unique circuit characteristics to make effective use of space in circuits |
Growth Driver I:
Expanding our product lineup in the industrial machinery market and mobility market
Power modules:
These products package multiple power semiconductors together. In addition to leveraging mounting technologies cultivated in Car Electronics products and Energy Systems & Solution products, we utilize copper clips to connect electrodes to meet increasing needs for higher voltages and currents. This not only enables us to make products smaller than discreet devices, it also makes mounting easier for customers.
FI-ECU for motorcycles:
These products feature controls that optimize gasoline injection to engines and regulators that rectify the energy produced by the engine for battery storage as well as idle stop functions. They are made with Shindengen devices to optimize unit design and improve fuel efficiency. In addition, integrating the units helps reduce size and weight.
DC/DC converters for four-wheel vehicles:
These power supplies convert high-voltage electricity produced in electric motors in EVs and other eco-friendly vehicles into the low-voltage energy needed for other electric functions in the vehicle.
Shindengen develops the main components needed to increase conversion efficiency and reduce size in-house. This includes not only power devices, but also such main components as transformers. By tailoring these components to the requirements of DC/DC converters, we achieve higher efficiency, smaller size and lighter weight.
Growth Driver II:
Direct Sales of Our Products to End Users
Quick chargers for EVs:
Quick chargers with higher maximum power output can shorten charging times. Shindengen is leveraging its strengths in power supply technologies to develop chargers with high power output. In addition, by utilizing Shindengen devices in these products, we realize optimal design that achieves both high quality and high performance.
Wireless EV charging systems:
Wireless charging systems for EVs currently in development transmit electric power from transmitting coils installed in the ground to receiving coils in vehicles.
Combining our power supply technologies with the expertise we have cultivated in vehicles for the Car Electronics segment, this product offers great promise, when widely deployed in the future, as an essential part of EV infrastructure for building a decarbonized society. We are currently advancing development with an eye toward a swift market release.
