Shindengen has established new targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and obtained SBT certification.

On October 4, 2023, Shindengen Electric Manufacturing Co., Ltd. obtained SBT (Science-based Targets) certification which is an international certification that the company has established greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in line with Paris Agreement.

Shindengen's Environmental Vision 2050 states that we are working toward minimizing the environmental burden of our entire value chain, and sets targets including the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 42% by the year 2030. The SBTi*1 international initiative certifies that our company's targets are scientific evidence for the achievement of the "1.5℃ goal" set by the Paris Agreement and COP26.

Going forward, the Shindengen Group will continue to expand our environmental contributions through the SDGs materiality specified by our company.

Shindengen Group greenhouse gas emission reduction targets (FY2021 standard)

• Reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions (greenhouse gas emissions produced by Shindengen Group business activities) totals by 42% by FY2030
• Scope 3: Reduce category 11 emissions (greenhouse gas emissions produced by products sold by Shindengen) by 25% by FY2030

*1 What is "SBTi"?
A joint initiative established by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), and World Resources Institute (WRI) in 2015. The initiative carries out screening and certification of businesses aimed at promoting the establishment of SBTs (Science-based Targets), which are science-based targets for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, to contribute to minimizing the increase of global average temperatures as a result of climate change.
